Current ShipHawk HAZMAT Limitations
Cannot have multiple HAZMAT classes in the same package.
ShipHawk will not Smart Pack HAZMAT with Non-HAZMAT items in the same package.
HAZMAT services are only available for U.S. Domestic shipments.
HAZMAT is only available with FedEx/UPS for parcel and Worldwide Express for LTL.
ShipHawk can only create an OP-950 Hazardous Material Certification Form.
How to Ship Fully-Regulated HAZMAT Parcels
Parcel Hazmat shipment in ShipHawk is simple. When creating a proposed shipment for a parcel order, you can select the Hazmat check box. This causes additional required hazmat fields to appear. All Hazmat fields are required and must be filled out completely. Be sure that you know what is being shipped and match it to the following handbook:
https://www.fedex.com/content/dam/fedex/us-united-states/services/HazmatShippingTable.pdf
The following information can be referenced in the Hazmat Handbook: The Complete Guide for CMV Drivers:
UN/NA #,
Proper Shipping Name,
Technical Name,
Hazard Class, and
Packing Group Information.
All other required fields vary depending on the carrier and seller.
These fields must match exactly as the handbook lists them, capitalization included.
How to Ship Fully-Regulated HAZMAT LTL/Freight
LTL and Freight Hazmat shipments work similarly to the small parcel process.
Currently, LTL Hazmat is supported with the following carriers:
ABF
Old Dominion
R+L
Saia
Tranzact
WWEX
You must fill in the weight and freight class for your order and check the Hazmat option. New Hazmat fields appear. You must fill out as much information as you can from the Hazmat Shipping Table document provided in the previous section.
If there are any parentheses ( ) in the Proper Shipping Name field, it will be removed from the freight bill-of-lading. This is expected behavior. If parentheses are required, you have the option of using brackets [...] instead.
