Shipper's Letter of Instruction (Settings Screen)

ShipHawk supports the creation of a shipper’s letter of instruction (SLI) document for air or ocean shipments. SLIs give instructions to intermediate consignees on how to send the shipped items. SLIs require setup in NetSuite and ShipHawk.

Create New Template

The Create New Template button will redirect you to the Add New Template for Shipper’s Letter of Instructions screen, which contains fields to customize your template:

Template Name: Enter a unique name for your SLI template in this field.

Default Label: If you want the default template that prints when a shipment with an intermediate consignee address is created to be this template, select this checkbox.

The Fields section is where you can set the specific parameters you want to be filled out when creating an SLI. Fields marked with an asterisk are required fields you must select an option for in order to create a new template. Definitions for the required fields in this section are provided below:

Parties to a transaction: Select whether the parties in this transaction are Related or Unrelated. Related parties have a preexisting relationship or common interest, which may impact the value declared at customs.

Ultimate Consignee Type: An ultimate consignee is the final recipient of the shipment, or who the shipment is ultimately intended for. Select the type that best describes your ultimate consignee. If the ultimate consignee is unknown at the time of export, choose Other or Unknown.

Routed Export Transaction:  A routed export transaction occurs when a foreign buyer agrees to accept responsibility for the export, the foreign party also authorizes the filing of the EEI for them. Specify Yes/No.

Total Value W/Freight: Select where the price that is put on the SLI is derived from: the order shipping price or the ShipHawk shipment price.

Fields that appear as read-only on this screen are non-configurable.

Add New Template: When you are finished configuring your SLI, click this button to save it to your account. Your template should populate on the table on the Shipper’s Letter of Instructions page.
