Packing Slips (Settings Screens)
In ShipHawk TMS, you can use the Packing Slips screen to create and manage packing slip templates. Packing slip templates allow users to change the formatting of the packing slips their organization uses. ShipHawk’s packing slip templates are written in HTML, so even users creating basic packing slip templates need a working knowledge on how to configure elements in HTML for their packing slip template to successfully generate.
This section will go over the UI of the Packing Slips screen, including the Packing Slip Template screen where you can create a template using HTML.
Packing Slips Screen
The Packing Slips screen displays a list of the packing slips that have been created for your organization. Selecting a packing slip will redirect you to an Edit pop-up window, where you can edit your packing slip template:
You can filter the list of packing slip templates that appear on the screen by selecting the type of packing slip you are searching for in the sidebar:
You can render a sample of an already created template by clicking on the Render Sample button. You can copy a template by clicking the green drop-down button on the Render Sample button in the row corresponding to the template you want to copy:
Create New Template
Click the Create New Template button to be redirected to the Create New Template pop-up screen and create a packing slip template from scratch.
New Packing Slip - Choose Editor: Use this screen to select the type of layout to create your template from.
Template Name: Enter a Name for your template in this field.
Template Description:Enter a Description of your template in this field.
Size: Select the type of packing slip you want to create using this drop-down field.
For Simple packing slips, templates are divided into four sections: Header, Items Header, Items Body, and Footer. These four elements make up a packing slip.
Header: Contains the elements that are at the top of the page and typically include the origin and destination addresses, order number, order date, and ship date.
Items Header: Serves as a header to the items that are included in the order. In packing slips, there is a table that includes all of the items in the order. The Items Header labels the columns in this table. Typical column headers include Item SKU, Description, Price, and Qty.
Items Body: The format for one row in the table of items.
Footer: Includes details to be included after the items table, such as Subtotal, Shipping Cost, and a barcode.
Render Sample: Click this button to generate a sample of what your template would look like.
The process of configuring an advanced packing slip template is similar to configuring simple packing slip templates. The main difference between the two is that advanced packing slip templates use Liquid to substitute variables with order details, which differs from using brackets in HTML. In addition, an advanced packing slip template does not have the same HTML sections that a simple packing slip template does.
