Parcel Workstation Uplift with Smart Packing

The design and layout of parcel workstations has been improved, and now includes ShipHawk's Smart Packing™. With these improvements, you do not need to pack boxes using the Order Details page, and instead can more efficiently and simply use a workstation page:

Ground Advantage (UGA) now replaces the following  deprecated services:

  • First-Class Mail (FCM)

  • Parcel Select Ground (PRCLSEL)

  • Retail Ground (STDPOST)

Ground Advantage Return (UGAR) now replaces the following deprecated return services:

  • First-Class Package Return Service (FCM)

  • Parcel Select Return Service (PRCLSEL)

New Rule Action: Use One of These Carriers

This release introduces a new rule action, “Use one of these carriers”,  that allows you to restrict rating and shipping to one of several carriers. Previously, you could use the “Use this carrier” rule action to restrict to only one carrier, but that could be too restrictive and did not allow for rate shopping in some situations. Further, instead of having a number of rules (one for each carrier), you can simply have one rule, which is easier to manage and provides more efficient processing.  ShipHawk encourages you to migrate your rules to the new rule type. The old rules will be deprecated eventually (in the 2023.7 release) and all customers who have not migrated will be moved to the new rules automatically.

Printer Settings: Include Computer Name with Printer Name

Previously, on Printer Settings, when selecting a printer from the drop-down, it was difficult to distinguish between multiple printers. Now, ShipHawk includes the computer name with the printer name on the drop-down so that multiple printers can be easily distinguished.

Packed Order API

First introduced in the 2023.4.0 release and further enhanced for this release,  the Packed Order API supports connections from systems that pack orders before sending the order information to ShipHawk.  The external system initiates the pick process, selects packing materials, and instructs the packer which items should be packed into which containers.  Packed orders are passed to ShipHawk to rate shop the order among carriers, apply shipping policies to select the best carrier, generate shipping labels and other documentation as needed, and book the shipment with the small parcel or LTL carrier. For more information about the new Packed Orders API, contact your ShipHawk account manager.
