2023.4.0 New Features

May 31, 2023

This document provides an overview of the new features in the 2023.4.0 release.

Release Notes also available on HubSpot.

Improved Saved Views Searching

Saved Views is a feature that lets you save a set of filter options for later use. You can use saved views to store commonly filtered content as views, and apply these views to your screen when needed. Saved views removes the need to manually set up filters one at a time each time users want to populate specific search results. The benefits of saved views include quicker searches, faster batch processing, and easier management of order exceptions. In this release, ShipHawk has now improved the usability of Saved Views so that you can much more easily search for order numbers using the search bar.

Require Shipping Clerks to Use Scanner to Select Items in Pack Verify

As an administrator, you now have the option to require shipping clerks to use the scanner to verify items in Pack Verify, as opposed to clicking on the user interface.

The setting is available on the Shipping Controls Settings screen, in Proposed Shipments Restrictions: select ‘Clear carrier selection when package information is changed manually.”

Improved Shipment History Performance

The user interface has been further optimized to render Shipment History data faster. For example, testing after this optimization has shown the time for loading a large set of orders (500) has been reduced from 8 seconds to 3.1 seconds.

Printing Packing Slips at Packing Workflow Workstations

You can now automatically print packing slips after booking a shipment at Packing Workflow workstations. This capability will improve the efficiency and productivity of your fulfillment process.

NetSuite Integration Improvements

This release includes NetSuite integration improvements, including:

  • Setup new fields in NetSuite for the new item types

  • Allow customers to setup NetSuite shipping method mappings for custom table rates

ICS Courier Integration

Starting with this release, ICS Courier (see https://www.icscourier.ca/ ), an intra-Canada parcel carrier, is now integrated with ShipHawk.

FedEx International Ground Consolidation (IGC)

FedEx International Ground Consolidation (see https://www.fedex.com/en-us/shipping/international-ground-consolidation.html ) broker select option is now available with ShipHawk, which can save merchants shipping from the USA to Canada up to $30 per package when going through customs.

FedEx Call Tag

FedEx Call Tag is a new return option, a paperless process that dispatches a FedEx driver to a pickup location. All shipment information is transmitted electronically to a FedEx Ground terminal. This enables returns for packages that do not have a related order or outbound shipment, or have more than $1,000 insured value.

Packed Orders API

ShipHawk’s shipping platform offers an integrated carton and pallet packing algorithm, Smart Packing™, which helps shippers increase packing efficiency and reduce overall shipping costs. Smart Packing also helps increase the accuracy of rates presented to consumers in online shopping carts when used with eCommerce connectors for in-cart rating.

However, some merchants prefer to use packing features embedded within other WMS or ERP platforms before sending the order information to ShipHawk.  In such cases, the external system selects the packing containers, determines which items are packed into each container, and posts packages to ShipHawk for rate shopping, carrier and service selection, and booking.

The new  Packed Orders API supports connections from systems that pack orders before sending the order information to ShipHawk.  The external system initiates the pick process, selects packing materials, and instructs the packer which items should be packed into which container(s).  Packed orders are passed to ShipHawk to rate shop the order among carriers, apply shipping policies to select the best carrier, generate shipping labels and other documentation as needed, and book the shipment with the small parcel or LTL carrier.
