You can use the ShipHawk Dimensioner in conjunction with the ShipHawk WMS and ShipHawk TMS, and your ERP system, such as NetSuite.

ShipHawk WMS and TMS

To configure the ShipHawk Dimensioner with the WMS, you must complete some WMS configuration steps and then register the device using the ShipHawk TMS. (If you only have access to the WMS, please reach out to your Account Manager to move forward.) See the following sections:

ShipHawk TMS Only

Businesses using NetSuite and ShipHawk TMS will need to upgrade to the most recent NetSuite-ShipHawk bundle (the ShipHawk Hybrid SuiteApp for NetSuite) to support the ShipHawk Dimensioner synchronization.

To configure the ShipHawk Dimensioner with the TMS only, you must first register the device using the ShipHawk TMS. See the following section:

Best Practices When Scanning

✔️ Minimum object feature size: 0.5" (if less than this, a feature might not be seen or included in the item cube).

✔️ Maximum object size: 48x24x24"  (as a rough rule of thumb). Hold the device at least 15 inches above the item.

Configuring ShipHawk Dimensioner with ShipHawk WMS

  1. In ShipHawk WMS, log in as an administrator.

  2. Navigate to Administration > Manage Workstations and click Take Selected Action.

  3. Select the workstation you intend to use and click Retrieve Workstation Details.

  4. Enter your ShipHawk Dimensioner (QBOID) device code in the QBOID Device ID field.

  5. Enter a meaningful name for your device in the QBOID Device Name field.

  6. Click Update Current Workstation.

  7. Navigate to Administration > Manage Lists and Settings.

  8. Locate the rule with code qboid_enabled and set it to TRUE.

  9. Locate the rule with code checkitemdimensionsatreceiving and set it to TRUE.

  10. Log out of ShipHawk WMS.

  1. Sign in to ShipHawk TMS.

  2. On the menu bar, select ⚙️ > Settings, and in the left navigation, click ShipHawk Dimensioner.

  3. Click + ADD DEVICE.

  4. The ‘Add a ShipHawk Dimensioner device in 3 easy steps’ pop-up window displays, showing a QR code.

  5. Scan the QR code by using your device. Aim the front of the device at the QR code and click the yellow button on the left side of the device, next to the ‘barcode’ icon:

  6. The device scans the QR code:

    Click YES.

  7. Next, to complete the “handshake” between the device and the ShipHawk system, use the device to measure some object (any object). Identify some object to scan, such as a box. Point the device’s camera at the object and press the Dimension Scan button:

    The device scans and measures the dimensions of the object:

  8. Save and upload the scan by pressing the device’s Save/Upload button:

  9. The device now connects to ShipHawk. In ShipHawk TMS, on the ShipHawk Dimensioner settings page, you will see the code for the device displayed on the page. The device registration is completed.

Scanning Dimensions with ShipHawk TMS

  1. On the ShipHawk TMS user interface, from the menu bar, select Products > Scan Items.

    Next, you select a dimensioner from a drop-down list of the ones that have been registered, and then you can proceed to scan items with it.

  2. From the drop-down, select a registered device:

    (If you want to double-check the device’s serial code on the ShipHawk Dimensioner device itself, to make sure you have the registered device: select the gear icon ⚙️ and then select About. On the About screen, scoll down to Device Info section’s Serial field.)

    NOTE: If you have PrintNode, the selection will include the Read weight from Scales option.
    Select this option if you are measuring dimensions and also the weight:

    Next, select the ShipHawk Dimensioner device from the Select a registered device dropdown:

  3. Click Next.

  4. The screen for scanning now displays:

    Note that the Item # column, the screen keeps a count of the number of the items you’re scanning during this session.

  5. Using the ShipHawk Dimensioner, scan the SKU or UPC code and then the dimensions of an item.

  6. The page now shows the results of the scan.

    The status icons initially show image-20240423-170142.png to indicate the data has not yet been synced with ShipHawk and your ERP.

  7. Note that you can edit the data if you wish to round it up or adjust it further.

  8. Click SYNC to sync the items with ShipHawk and your ERP.

  9. Continue scanning the SKUs and then the dimensions of each item at hand using the ShipHawk Dimensioner.

  10. Keep in mind if you leave the page and discontinue the session, you can continue scanning SKUs later by going to Products > Scan Items.

Scanning Dimensions at Packing Time in ShipHawk TMS

If enabled for your account, you can also use the ShipHawk Dimensioner right when you are packing an order, working from the Order Details page.

On Order Details, in the left navigation area, from Dimensioner device, select the device serial code of the ShipHawk Dimensioner you will use:

Next, scan a package, and click the dimensions icon to have the dimensions you’ve scanned upload for the package:

If you have the ShipHawk Dimensioner but don’t see the Dimensioner device drop-down and dimensions icon on the user interface, contact your ShipHawk account manager to enable the Show on shipment package form option.
